Two Feared Dead, Several Injured in Walewale Road Crash Involving Truck and Voxy
A Walewale road crash has left two people feared dead and several others injured. The accident involved an articulated truck carrying cement, a Toyota Voxy and several motorbikes. It happened on the Walewale Road on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

How Many People Were Injured?
Initial reports said up to 12 people were hurt, and some were in critical condition. However, the Municipal Chief Executive for West Mamprusi, Mohammed Jabaah, gave a lower figure. He told Citi News that eight people were injured.
How the Crash Happened
The articulated truck was reportedly travelling from Walewale. It collided with the Toyota Voxy, which was heading from Bolgatanga towards Tamale. Several motorbike riders were also caught up in the collision. The truck reportedly hit electricity poles as well.
Conflicting Accounts of the Cause
The circumstances leading to the crash remain unclear. Accounts differ on which vehicle lost control. Initial reports suggested the articulated truck lost control. However, Mr Jabaah said the Toyota Voxy caused the accident.
“There was a collision between the articulated truck, which was carrying POP cement, and the Toyota Voxy. The Voxy lost control, resulting in the accident, involving several vehicles. Two people died and eight were injured,” he said.
Victims Taken to Hospital
Reports say the dead include a female student and a motorbike rider. Responders took the injured to the Tamale Teaching Hospital and other health facilities. Some are reportedly in critical condition.
Investigations Expected
Investigators are expected to establish what caused the collision.
