Ghana Gender Minister to Hold Community Dialogues on Social Protection in Nanton and Bolgatanga East
Ghana’s Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey (MP), is set to lead two back-to-back Community Dialogues on Social Protection across the Northern regions of Ghana on June 15 and 16, 2026.
The dialogues, organised by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, are aimed at engaging communities directly on social protection issues while also offering residents free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) registration or renewal.
First Dialogue — Nanton District, Zoggu Community
The first community engagement will take place on Monday, June 15, 2026, at Zoggu Community in the Nanton District, beginning at 10:00 AM.
Joining Dr. Lartey at the Nanton dialogue will be Hon. Dr. Mohammed Sharif Abdul-Khalik, Member of Parliament for Nanton. The event will bring together community members, local leaders, and stakeholders to discuss social protection policies and how they impact residents at the grassroots level.
Second Dialogue — Dachio Primary School, Bolgatanga East
The second dialogue is scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Dachio Primary School, starting at 10:00 AM.
Hon. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East, will join the Gender Minister at this engagement, reinforcing the government’s commitment to reaching vulnerable communities across the country.
Free NHIS Registration on Offer
A key highlight of both events is the provision of free NHIS registration or renewal for community members in attendance. This initiative is expected to significantly boost health insurance coverage in areas where access to healthcare remains a challenge.
Why These Dialogues Matters
The Community Dialogue series reflects the Ghanaian government’s broader efforts to bring social protection conversations directly to the people, ensuring that policies around child welfare, gender equality, and social safety nets are understood and accessible at the community level.
Residents in the Nanton District and Bolgatanga East are encouraged to attend and take advantage of the free NHIS registration offer.
