Nana Konadu Makes GMB History as First Bono Region Winner in 20 Years

Nana Konadu Nhyiraba Obeng has made history as the first contestant from the Bono Region to win the Ghana’s Most Beautiful crown in the pageant’s 20-year history. The 20-year-old from Dormaa Ahenkro claimed the title on October 18, 2026, ending the Bono Region’s long wait for the coveted crown. Furthermore, she is currently a Level 400 student of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Professional Studies, Accra. A former Wesley Girls’ High School student, Konadu is calm and composed off stage but transforms into a bold and expressive performer when the spotlight is on her.

From Dormaa Ahenkro to Ghana’s Most Beautiful Crown

Nana Konadu’s journey to the GMB crown was built on discipline, hard work, and a deep connection to Ghanaian culture. She consistently used her performances to educate, entertain, and celebrate Ghana’s heritage throughout the competition. Moreover, her ability to connect history, food, cocoa, and tourism became one of the defining features of her campaign.

She earned recognition as Best Model of the Night during Fashion Night and won the Star Performer award on Week 10’s One Africa Night. Furthermore, during One Africa Night she represented Côte d’Ivoire, exploring its shared Akan roots with Ghana and featuring the story of Queen Abla Pokou alongside the country’s football culture and Coupé-Décalé dance rhythms.

Defending the Bono Accent at the Grand Finale

Nana Konadu delivered a powerful opening performance at the grand finale celebrating the Bono Region’s history, achievements, language, and cultural identity. She challenged the ridicule directed at the Bono accent and insisted that the way people speak should never be used to judge their intelligence or worth. Moreover, she urged young people to embrace their identity and never allow mockery to silence them. The performance drew loud cheers from the audience and reinforced her reputation as a contestant who combined confidence with meaningful storytelling. As a result, she earned the title of GMB at 20 Legacy Queen.

Rising Phoenix Project and Her Prizes

Beyond pageantry, Nana Konadu has interests in business, influencing, and television presenting. Her project, Rising Phoenix, aims to create platforms and opportunities for single mothers and their children through skills development, vocational training, and mentorship programmes. Furthermore, she received a GH₵200,000 cash prize, an MG ZS Deluxe Edition vehicle, and other benefits as part of her GMB winnings. Therefore, her victory goes beyond a personal achievement — it is a moment of immense pride for the Bono Region and a platform for the social change she intends to drive through her Rising Phoenix initiative.
