NPP National Youth Wing to Stage “Yegyeyɛ Sika Demo” Against NDC Government
The National Youth Wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) plans to hold a protest against the John Dramani Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government. The NPP Youth Wing demo is called the “Yegyeyɛ Sika Demo.” The group accuses the government of alleged corruption and says it has failed to fulfil its campaign promises.
What the Demo Aims to Achieve
The youth wing says the protest will demand accountability, job creation and economic relief for Ghanaians.
Demands Against Two Ministers
The NPP National Youth Organiser, Abanga Yakubu Fuseini, announced the plans in a statement on Facebook. He said the protest will demand, among other things, that two ministers refund monies they allegedly have not properly accounted for. The ministers are Sports Minister Kofi Adams and Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
These are allegations by the youth wing. The report does not say that the ministers have responded.
Concerns Over Cocoa Prices
The youth wing also questions the producer price of cocoa. It says farmers receive GH¢2,600 per bag instead of GH¢3,100. It describes the amount as unfair to farmers.
24-Hour Economy Policy
Additionally, the group says the government has failed to implement the proposed 24-hour economy policy.
Date and Venue Not Yet Announced
The youth wing has not yet announced the date and venue of the protest.
