Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is leading Ghana’s delegation to Bangkok, Thailand. The occasion is the 2026 Annual Meetings of the IMF and World Bank Group. The meetings run from October 12 to 18, 2026. They come ahead of the 2027 Budget. In that budget, Dr. Forson will unveil the New Economy.

This is the government’s blueprint for Ghana’s next phase of development. Furthermore, this is the first gathering held outside Washington D.C. since Dr. Forson became Finance Minister in 2025.

Stabilisation Was Never the Destination

Dr. Forson signalled a major shift during the 2026 Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review. He said stabilisation was never the destination. It was the price of entry.

Moreover, Ghana enters the Bangkok talks with positive reviews from the IMF and World Bank. Both institutions have praised Ghana’s recovery from the 2022 economic crisis. Therefore, the meetings mark a turning point. Ghana now moves from stabilisation toward sustained transformation.

What Dr. Forson Will Do in Bangkok

In Bangkok, Dr. Forson will meet world leaders and fellow finance ministers. He will also engage IMF and World Bank senior officials. In addition, he will hold talks with development and financial partners.

These bilateral and multilateral meetings give Ghana a platform. The country will present its recovery story. It will also signal the direction of the New Economy to the global community.

New Economy Blueprint to Guide Ghana’s Next Phase

The New Economy blueprint will set out Ghana’s path beyond stabilisation. It aims to build an economy that sustains growth and delivers lasting development. Furthermore, the 2027 Budget will translate those ambitions into policy and action. As a result, the Bangkok engagements lay the groundwork for Ghana’s next major economic chapter.
