Keynote Address Delivered by Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim at the BOST Energies Ladies Association 10th Anniversary Thanksgiving and Durbar, Accra, 28 August 2026
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim has declared that the success of one woman must open the door for another. She delivered the keynote address at the 10th Anniversary Thanksgiving and Durbar of the BOST Energies Ladies Association (BOSTLA) on Friday, August 28, 2026, in Accra.
She conveyed warm greetings from President John Dramani Mahama and the Presidency. The theme was “A Decade of Excellence: Honoring the Foundation, Inspiring the Next Generation.”
A Title Gives Authority But Character Gives Influence
Shamima Muslim challenged women at the BOSTLA anniversary to rethink what leadership truly means. She said leadership begins when we take responsibility even when nobody is watching.
Furthermore, she stressed that a title gives authority but character gives influence. Therefore, the question must not simply be how many women have reached the table but also how many others they are helping to bring along.
Women’s Empowerment Is a National Development Imperative
Shamima Muslim cited clear data to make the economic case for women’s empowerment at the BOSTLA anniversary. She noted that female unemployment stood at 14.8 percent in the fourth quarter of 2024, compared with 10.9 percent for males.
Moreover, an International Labour Organization survey of almost 13,000 enterprises across 70 countries found that gender-diverse institutions consistently report better business outcomes.
She therefore stressed that women’s empowerment is not simply a women’s issue but a national development imperative.
Build Beyond What the Founders Built
Shamima Muslim concluded by challenging BOSTLA members to honour their founders by building beyond what they built. She urged younger women to learn relentlessly, prepare deliberately, and never allow mistakes or criticism to define the limits of their potential.
She reminded all present that when one woman’s success opens the door for another and another, progress becomes transformation and transformation becomes legacy.
