Ghana’s Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection and Member of Parliament for Krowor, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has presided over the renaming of the Lekma Polyclinic to Nungua Polyclinic, describing the occasion as a simple but historic moment for the people of Krowor.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Lartey emphasised that the renaming goes beyond a mere change of name, explaining that it is about branding, trust, and ownership. She noted that the new name Nungua Polyclinic gives residents a sense of identity and belonging, and will also eliminate the longstanding confusion between the polyclinic and the Lekma Hospital at Lejokuku. She further revealed that the facility is currently the second best polyclinic in the Greater Accra Region, a status she said the people of Krowor are determined to build upon.
Dr. Lartey expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his support and clear directives, the Ministry of Health, the Ghana Health Service, the Municipal Assembly, the MCE, and the Municipal Health Directorate for their collective efforts in making the renaming a reality. She acknowledged that the process required persistent follow-ups and dedication from all stakeholders involved.
Looking ahead, Dr. Lartey expressed excitement about the upcoming Phase Two of the facility’s development, describing it as the bigger project, and called on traditional leaders, religious bodies, and all citizens of Krowor to look forward to another remarkable milestone in the history of the municipality.
